Dentistry

We offer and encourage routine dental scaling and polishing to prevent dental disease. We have a dental scaler, high speed drill, and professional polishing equipment to treat pets with tartar build up and dental disease. Our pet dentals include cleaning, polishing, a fluoride treatment, and full mouth dental x-rays. Dentistry is done under anesthesia with our state-of-the-art monitoring equipment including pre-operative bloodwork, EKG, Blood Pressure, Pulse Oximetry, and Capnography.

Comprehensive Dental Care for Your Best Friend

A pet’s dental health is just as important as our own, yet it is often one of the most overlooked aspects of their healthcare. At Veterinary Center of Hardyston, we specialize in complete veterinary dentistry to ensure your pet lives a happy, pain-free life. From routine cleanings to advanced oral surgery, our team is equipped with the latest veterinary medical technology to protect your companion's smile and overall well-being.

Professional Dental Cleanings & Scaling

Just like humans, pets accumulate plaque and tartar that regular brushing at home simply cannot remove. Our professional dental cleanings involve a thorough scaling process to remove stubborn buildup both above and below the gumline, followed by polishing to smooth the tooth enamel. By restoring their teeth to a pristine state, we prevent the onset of periodontal (gum) disease and eliminate the bacteria responsible for chronic bad breath.

Advanced Digital Dental Radiography

Because up to 60% of a pet's dental disease hides completely out of sight beneath the gumline, visual inspections are only half the battle. We utilize state-of-the-art digital dental X-rays to look closely at the roots of the teeth and the surrounding bone structures. This non-invasive imaging allows our veterinary team to catch hidden painful infections, bone loss, or fractured roots early, before they cause serious discomfort to your pet.

Safe and Monitored Anesthesia Protocols

We understand that sending your pet in for a procedure requiring anesthesia can cause anxiety for any pet parent. Your peace of mind and your pet's safety are our absolute highest priorities. Every dental procedure at our center is performed under strict, customized general anesthesia. A dedicated veterinary technician continuously monitors your pet's vital signs—including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels—from the moment they drift off until they are safely awake.

Compassionate Tooth Extractions & Oral Surgery

When a tooth is severely fractured, deeply infected, or causing unmanageable pain, a precise surgical extraction is often the kindest treatment pathway. Our skilled veterinarians perform oral surgeries with incredible precision and a heavy focus on multimodal pain management. By removing diseased or non-viable teeth, we eliminate chronic sources of infection and pain, allowing your pet to bounce back to their energetic, playful self.

Preventative Home Care Guidance

Excellent dental health does not stop when you leave our clinic; it is a continuous partnership. After your pet's treatment, our team takes the time to walk you through customized, practical home care routines. We will show you how to properly brush your pet's teeth, recommend scientifically proven dental diets, and suggest safe chew toys designed to mechanically reduce plaque, keeping their smile bright between clinic visits.

Spotting the Warning Signs of Dental Disease

Pets are hardwired to hide their physical pain, which means oral disease often goes unnoticed until it reaches an advanced stage. We encourage pet owners to keep a close eye out for subtle warning signs, including unusually foul breath, dropping kibble while eating, pawing at the mouth, or red, swollen gums. If you notice any of these behaviors, it is time to schedule an assessment with our Hardyston team so we can address the issue before it progresses.
